About

I have been a professional artist for over 15 years, based in British Columbia, Canada.  I started my career painting watercolours, and my investigative nature has expanded my portfolio to include pastels, acrylic and oils.  However, I am best known for my watercolour and oil paintings.

My background in biology is evident in the choices I make when developing ideas for paintings. It was this background that taught me to ‘see’.  I learned to appreciate the force of nature and all of the mysteries that surround it, and my love of nature’s diversity of colour, texture and value is inherent in my work.

I have won awards in several Canadian competitions, and I also hold the Active status with the Federation of Canadian Artists.  My work hangs in private and corporate collections in Canada, Great Britain, the U.S.A., and Japan.

    Hi Carolyn,

Our mutual friend, Sabine, sent me your web information, and here I am. I think you have a wonderful site, and I am impressed with all the things you have done on it. Mine, by comparison, is rather brief with the paintings as the major point subject. I have had my site only for 2 months, and as an old guy, the whole process is very challenging. I am so glad to see you channeling your energy in this direction, and I will read more of your words as time permits. Several of the local painters on our island get together on Fridays for plein air sessions. Today we go to a tiny beach where surfers catch the winter waves. Aloha, Bob

Thanks for reading Bob. I will look forward to your comments if you are so compelled.
You lucky guy. To plein air paint every week is fabulous but to do it on a small beach in the sun…..hmmmm!
      Happy painting!
ps. what is your website address?
