Evaluate, Regroup, Move Forward….

December 30, 2013

Well, here we are at the close of yet another year.  The proverbial “where does the time go?” has never meant more to me than it does at this moment.  I am sure that I am not alone with this feeling.   It is, therefore, because of the pace of this passing year, that comfort can be found in a simple exercise devised, in part, by my sister-in-law.  It is brilliant really….a way to evaluate your past year, regroup and set intention(s) for the coming year.

My sister-in-law is an amazing person.  She is a personal/business coach by trade but I prefer to think of her as my ‘personal trainer of self awareness’.  Her forte as I would describe it, is clearing away the dead leaves to reveal the bare branches…..the bones as it were.  No one is better at helping you get down to the ‘meat’ of things (scary for a vegetarian, ha), clearing away the illusions of life and helping with the formulation of the ‘new’.  The other thing I would have to say about her is that she is definitely ‘solutions orientated’ :)…..this is a great support to have on one’s side.   I have permission from my ‘confidant’ to share with you her list of questions that she completes at the closing of each year.  She tells me that the list is not entirely of her own making but that it has been compiled over years of study and support of those she coaches.  Personally, I don’t care where the questions came from, all I know is that they have become instrumental in the ‘closing’ of my years and the ‘creation’ of my New Year.

I invite you all to complete the list I am including in this blog.  When answering the questions I do it from the gut….no reading the questions over, pondering and then answering what you think you might like to hear.  The automatic response seems to be very accurate and revealing.  Give it a try.  I hope it is helpful.

What have you actually finished, completed, and accomplished? If you haven’t made a list in the last year give yourself a treat and review the year that just passed and look forward to the year ahead.
